Intrinsic as Love Is, or could ever be
[An Ode To Society…Sung In B-flat]
(For those in Timbuktu, that’s A#)

Intrinsic as love is,
society’s unappreciative arms shroud with disillusionment.
Not to allow our fate to be what we might inherit,
that is, you and me.

Distinct, yet we do,
as our consignment is portioned-out
on our own back porch.
Accept or reject, fulfill or promise,
adhere contritely,
or disengage completely.

Thus the question might be:
What makes a “You and me, a you and me?”

Dissimilarity drawn in
as magnetism’s north and south
one could say.
It may also be the earth and sea,
the sky and trees.

Maybe just a constant fluttering of air;
such a dreadful question for argumentation.
Nonetheless we do debate,
discriminately, with impunity,
to resolve what “We” as that “You and Me”
could possibly be.

Discussion together
as one or two intentional
sectional pieces of leather furniture.
Talk we must, talk we won’t.
We created by society’s rule
is simply not to coheir in love.

You comprehend as the “Is”, is.
Yet, I am unmoving as the assurance in the “Was”, is.
Or could ever be…

Now that is:
Society’s “You and me”

Takes these dissimilarities for mind stimulation sometimes, teaching and feeding the other half of your heart.

Lovely write JL

That's good, it stuck with me.

JL

A conversation like this....about the "us" in a "you/me"...is always interesting material to the "we".  Enjoyed this!

Jl,
The "is" and "was"... the time/space continuance thing has always confused people--guess that's why this was such an interesting read.

Opposites do attract! ~ and there are inherent lessons to be learned by the individual attractors and attractions!

An engaging reflective write.
