In certain areas
the earth is still nervous
shaking in underground
trembles
as if

it had a heartbeat

sodden
with dusty rains

and news
of your redeeming features;

you always say goodbye
and tell me
you always loved me

all along

But you never cover our shallow graves
stick around to see
how
dirt

sticks around

heart, eyes and skin

long after you've supposedly washed it off.

You never even bother
to spy upon
the many lives
I wrestled up
from
the remainder
of soiled pride

the attempts
that trail and dwindle
to halt

power lines
fallen
like paths
across mud.

New things never worked

when no electricity spun
hammock webs
for me to laze in

no tangled sparks
of
light
for me to read all the books

you wanted me to.

Is this all
I'll ever watch you acknowledge

through wispered words
along
food chains

of survival
and death

through rumour

a scenic view

one desolate rolling hill

Excellent.

What is there to say?!  It was deep.  Emotional.  Lovely.  I know this is a strange word to use with a poem as heartwrenchingly deep as this one, but what can I say?!  The words were beautiful.
