What one human can do
Should not surprise you.
Look at the world.
To name a few,
There is Saddam.
Or Osama Bin Laden.
Either’s influence
will not be forgotten!
Souls thirsty for power
At any cost,
death, destruction,
holocaust.

But it also runs true
(Duplicitous are all truths)
that where there is hate,
there is love, too.
Remember Teresa,
Gandhi, Sadaat,
Diana, Golda, or
What Skali taught.

It was said that Mier
Made a statement profound
She spoke loud and clear
And her words still resound:
For peace to occur,
(and I paraphrase here)
One must love his children
more than he hates others.

Nothing is solved
Through violent acts.
The effects of war
never really pass. Just ask
George Herbert Walker Bush
Whose documentary
I just watched.
Even he is haunted by WWII
And his crashed plane's cost.

What can one person do
To change the world?
Many things could be solved
If we looked at ourselves,
Looking through eyes
That see with conviction
But forgetting ourselves
And our own afflictions.

And this is my plea:
Please help me to see
With the eyes of Gandhi.

Hi iliana...I can't help you see with Ghandi's eyes. But I can tell you I love this poem! Wonderful piece you have here. Glad I had the chance to read it first.

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!

I'm glad you wrote this, iliana.  So often we question what we, as one person, can do.
This is very uplifting and empowering.  You express yourself so well!

There is a movie (and book) called the power of one - haunting and thought provoking.  'One' is in this story people working together as one to make change in their world. To stand up against injustice and predjudice as one. It's an awesome story.

And yes, as each one of us does good, we each make a difference in this world.  Good thought this morning.

If this world could do as you plea,  all
things would be good and evil would come
to pass from starvation.  Through thousands
of years we have lived with this affliction,
and sadly...I fear we will never see our
world as we might wish it to be...For with
each that falls,  another stands in wait,
with hate in their hearts and love for only
self, if that.

Jumping up and down here in joyful applause!
I will add to your listing the Dalai Lama -- I am currently reading "the Art of Happiness" and "An Open Heart, practicing compassion in everyday life".  Would that we all could, each one of us, choose to live life with compassion.  Yes, then the power of one would unite to become the power of many and much would be done.  We have tremendous impact on those who surround us and by showing a little compassion it would amaze us to see the melting.

Hugs to you oh beautiful soul -- Susan

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

Magnus -- Barry, I know this is the way it is, but I will dream of this place all the same.  The thing that seems to be creeping upon us, though, is the massiave take over of negative thought.  We have to keep a balance and I'm going to try to do my part.  I enjoyed reading your post and thanks for taking the time to let me know what you think...........jo

kaile -- Thanks so much for reading and your post.... yes, we CAN!

Susan -- Thanks for adding the Dalhi Lama -- there are many more to add, thank goodness.  That is a book I should read, as well -- sounds very inspirational.  Thank you, sweetness, for your post.

(smiles) I believe that's the first step in uniting together, first and utmost to realize your true potential and encourage others the same, then when you hold that faith true enact it in the company of friends! (big angel hugs) It saddens me to see the media all talk about what Saddam and bin Laden have done and ignore what Mother Teresa and others like her have done, which mean so much more! I only hope soon we understand our potential and work together to follow Teresa's and others examples and spread unconditional love to the world! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Jo, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Hiya Jo and Good Morning

Good thoughts, remembering someone once said, if your governments corrupt then so to will be it's people...knowing right now, thats where we're at, no matter what side we're on.  I wish people would let go of either extreme and admit to the wrong doings of everyone involved....and to, I wish people would wake up and know, that change will not happen until we stop this train of thoughts that speak "Let someone else handle the problem"

Good thoughts and great poem.  Thank you for your intuition and goodness, not to mention, your uplifting hope
