A full moon glimmered through whispy clouds
in the grave yard, eerie noises could be heard
a haunted house on the hill howled
the town thought it was inhabited by ghosts
a coffin creaked open,
a vampire hand emerged
his basement crypt had been vandalized
the hand would seek revenge..

The local town draped in black and orange
waited for tiny ghouls and goblins to knock.
The young deamons, one in pointed hat
smelled pumpkin pies decked on window sills.
Their heads were protected from flying bats,
no one dared to be without a costume.

It was the night of Halloween
a black cat kept company with its witch
whose brews and potion saturated the air
in the company of a magic chant...

Tombstones glinted in the moonlight
goblins laden with treats passed unsuspecting
worried some maligned adult would demand tricks
The young crew came across a dark rickety home
pranks were in the air on the hill
one dared the others to enter the yard
the iron gate seemed to invite their entry
as they sauntered to the front door
the door creaked open without any knock
from the inside, a pale hand gripped the knob
an eerie 'good-evening' echoed in the night
enough to send shivers up their spines, alright.

LOL, can I come and trick'r'treat in your neighborhood?
(don't oil those hinges yet)

Why of course, there will be a pumpkin on the balcony to greet you...

Ah, such a wonderfully frightful scene you paint indeed (glad you left out the firewords or I would be hiding under my bed about now.)

Looks like the site needed a few "seasonal" poems, thanks for reading
