I know that loss can't be evaded
But oh, if it could be persuaded
To not dally
It is the fear of what shall be
That steals my breath and crushes me.
I'll not rally
From existence of waking scream,
I'm all nightmare without a dream
As I watch you -
Loving, wishing, worrying
Knowing there is not a thing
That I can do

to

halt

your

going

Tragically beautiful.  Very powerful.  A poem that I truly appreciate.  A keeper.

I was reading in here earlier and saw a gracious reply of yours to another poet...something about not being afraid to write the "tough ones" outside our "comfort zone"...the ones that may not "rest easy" on the reader...
I think the same praise applies to you as well...life isnt all happy rhymes and so ones poetry cant always be. Write your heart and the rhymes will ring true. And as we write, hopefully we heal in the process.

To not dally
It is the fear of what shall be
That steals my breath and crushes me.
I'll not rally
From existence of waking scream,
I'm all nightmare without a dream

poignant, powerful, honest heart write poetess Ruth.

An excellent write, perhaps some things are not meant to be.

There can be overwhelming pain, fear, and frustration at our inability to put off the inevitable.

May God grace us with the peace of acceptance.

This is an exceptionally moving write and one that many of your readers are sure to feel deeply.

Loving, healing hugs to both you and the one for whom this was written.

EA

SweetestSuthernGal~
There is that very, very helplessness that we are all so vulnerable to~
Wishing ... yet knowing ... we cannot turn the tides ....
so we pray, we cry, we scream, and we write~

*Huglets* you dear poetess~

Ah, Laura, what an ache of a poem this is....in so many ways it's a shame that you are our resident expert on this subject....but in one way -- the writing -- it's something else again. You are proof that there's at least one good thing which can come from sadness....words like these.

Suthern,  this poem hurts a great amount.
I too hope it does not dally...and that
a fresh breath of air comes to you.
