How can I convey
Or put into words
This duplicity
The way that it feels

It burns my soul
And leaves me charred
I can't seem to let go
Of what was never there

The first time we met
It was something of fate
My heart gave in
I was taken away

I find it so ridiculous
That I was so Naive
You were so guileful
So quick to decive

All the times I kissed you
And all the times we shared
You could have fooled me
That you never really cared

I just dont understand
Or how you could even go through
When it comes to making me unhappy
I leave that up to you

Critized what I was wearing
Told me what to do
Just the right amount of make-up
And just the right shade of blue

Just the perfect barbie doll
For the not so perfect ken
Your living in a dream world
Of plastic and pretend

You wanted nothing but perfection
Flaws were too much to handle
So you plotted by yourself
And drug me through this scandal

So you were with her
But weren't you engaged to me?
It was me and you
Not us three

You left me faded
And you'll continue doing it again
But it wont be to me
Beacause I've put us to an end

I'm not yours to destroy
To mold like clay
I'm done being that art work
I'm done being on display

Yes - agree with Kacy - one needs love that builds one up, for the tear one down, that is not love.

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

Love this...of course any mention to the Barbie and Ken excistence just makes me smile. That is one of my favorite things to tear apart through writing. Let them play at being grown up...eventually we all put away the dolls. It is just some of us get there a little faster then others. I love this poem lilibeelee. Sorry for the heartache...but it made for a really great verse.

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!
