i'm laying in bed
wising i were somewhere else
anywhere else
anywhere but here
words repeated a thousand times over
by so many people
but i don't care,
i need out..

the bright lights of the city
seem to call my name
the urge to leave is pulsing in my veins
i wasn't meant for this small town life
with small town people
and small town dreams
i need more..

your eyes are the only things keeping me awake at night
keeping me here
planted on this god forsaken ground
wishing i could fly away
but lacking the wings to do so
i need you..

i'm laying in my bed
wishing i somewhere else
anywhere else..
i need to soar..

You managed to convey your feelings very well! Yes, the lure of the city can be quite strong! But remember, all that glitters is not gold.
As Erma Bombeck wrote, "The grass is greener over the septic tank!" lol

Small town living has its advantages as well! But I sense your restless spirit and when that call comes in from the city, young people are quick to answer! ~ I've been there as well!

Enjoyed your poem! Brought back feelings and memories of my own!

You are young, travel, see the world, experience differences in life, cultures, people.  Then when all is said and done, you will have a better understanding of yourself and what you want.  Soar sweet little bird.  Try your wings.

Oh, the restlessness of youth -- I feel that here.  Take it from one who knows, once you leave it is very hard to go back....but, then again, sometimes that is a choice we need to make.  Think long and hard though and have a solid plan -- well, that's enough advice from the eternal mom in me.

Enjoyed toying with idea again, so thanks.
