The darkness grows nearer with each passing day,
Yet it still seems my soul is just running away.
But maybe it’s time I admitted the truth,
And if asked, my old friend’s words just may show proof.
You see, I assumed there was something more,
And still I’d live through the days of yore,
For it was my wish I’d assumed to be true;
Let my mistake be a lesson to you.
But had I asked then, would I have a chance?
Would avoiding the pain be avoiding the dance?
Is surrender just cowardly, or is it wise?
My own illusions deceived my eyes!
My creations forgotten of time since past,
Oh, how they keep fighting, though fading so fast;
Seems they’ve not forgotten me, nor what they’ve been given,
For my forgetful ways, at least, I’m forgiven.
Heroes of long ago begin to return,
And through it all, I finally learned;
The fires of hatred burned so strong,
An endless nightmare, now finally gone.
But now it seems I’m lost for words,
And all because of what I heard;
You see, that’s how I learned the truth;
Just ask my heart, it’s living proof.
So now I ask for a chance to rest,
To take this burden off my chest;
No words describe the guilt I feel
For forgetting what was truly real.
If only rather than going for a walk,
I could see my friend and have a talk,
I’d apologize and say what I should have said,
And maybe my hopes wouldn’t seem so dead.
At least I’d still have my true best friend,
But now that life seems to be at it’s end…

If anyone knows of a place online where I could post this for everyone to see, could you direct me to it? I kind of have high hopes in a good way...

What is life without poetry and adventure?
"Little sister" is just another way of saying "Guardian Angel"!

It reminded me that you can run away from everyone but yourself and that we all are responsible for our actions - no-one else.

I found it hard work to read but no poem stays the same as we re-read our own works.

I'm feelin' pretty good now that I've gotten all that out of the way. And for anyone who gives a... hmm... can't say that here... but for anyone who gives a hoot, I'm into rap as well, and it's similar to poetry in some ways; in fact, I have a friend who calls rap "Gangsta Poetry". So if anyone wants to, as they say in the rap world, "spit some lyrics", I'm in.
