Hide and Seek

In youth I played at hide and seek
And lost my way while up the creek
There I found the sands of time
And turned around but lost my prime

I looked for points of memory track
I’d recognize to show me back
But all I found was empty crave
And empty kegs of misbehave

From there it seemed an uphill pull
My paddle seemed to loose its will
And everywhere the face of change
Which left me cold with all the strange

Where once the fields were daffodil
Now were naught but lilies fill
Horizon seemed a mist away
With darker night and grayer day

I read somewhere you can’t go back
The sands of time are never slack.

PEEK....

But there's always forward ways
on roads that will show
to newer horizons that would glow
of things I've never seen, and so...
arm in arm, we poets throw
the games of yesterday to the winds,
and step forwardly spritely, once again.

And so we must make the now as wonderful as the then - every moment a new breath of possibilities.  Enjoyed this

*smiles* at the gifted gold of you~

'empty kegs of misbehave'

Snickering at this, I am~
I'd pop a keg-cork with you anyday of the week !
(and maybe TWICE ON SUNDAY !)

Sunshine
I would expect nothing else from you.

Maureen,
Now would I do a thing like that?

Susan
Enjoyed your reply.

Marge,
It would be my pleasure and "TWICE ON SUNDAY." LOL

Hi Seymour.
I've always loved the game of hide and seek.
And still do at times.

I read somewhere you can’t go back
The sands of time are never slack.

And that can feel so cruel... especially to those of us who're enchanted by daffodils. *S* But lilies have their beauty, too... May every step forward be one of joy for you, my friend. *S*
