I feel like I'm always dodging a ball
or that I'll strike out
and let my team down.

I suppose it's because I never learned to bat
or shoot a three pointer,
never mind the buzzer.

I was pretty good at four square,
when I was kid at heart,
but I am so far outside of those lines these days.

Now and again I get the chalk out
just to play hopscotch,
and remember how simple life used to be.

But if I have learned nothing else,
I can still beat myself at my own game
and land on my own two feet.

And that makes me a winner,
even when I'm not.
And I still count the minutes until recess.

Simple is good. I could use some of it right now, in fact.

As for me, I won more often than I knew, back then. Now I seem to lose more often than I know, and recess never comes.

I think you play an awesome hand of life cards. Yes...you are a winner. Poetically and womanly. Meet ya at the monkey bars?

With an attitude like that, you will always be a winner in the game of life!

Meet you at recess and we'll have a ball!

Sounds like a good recipe for contentment to me.  Nicely done.  KJ
