Swish....Clunk!  The sound of a door closing
swiftly in his mind.
“We need to talk.”.. Echoing over and over
again...what could conceivably be the fuel
of a fire that smoulders around him?

Her perfume wafting, swirling, enticing,
entrancing...  For a moment, just a moment..
He was in another place...a secluded cove
beside a beach where a trail of lover’s
prints, side by side, danced merrily into
the evening..as a gold and red sky turned
to stars....the heavens blanketed them
comfortably as a kiss lingered...

“Jack!”....  “Pooof”... the daydream
crashing down around him into shards
of broken love...his eyes caught her
own, her eyebrows raised...he knew
this was time to be attentive and on
his toes...No stutters, stammers or
“GeeWhizzes.”

She had a tear falling slowly from
a beautiful eye.  One which had soo
deeply admired him...had watched
him for hours, on days when the heat
threw away a shirt, his tan line showing,
and she giggled...spraying him with the
hose....running swiftly away...and then
he caught her...thrashing playfully,
knowing where they would journey
to...
Would it ever repeat itself? Or, was
this the final chapter of a storybook
composed in real life??

They sat, sipping coffee.   Her cup
so dainty and flowery compared to
his.  No man would be caught with
a woman’s coffee cup between his
lips...unless of course, he were
tempering it with his breath to
ensure she did not burn those
luscious, moist and inviting lips.

Jack could sense Alana was very
nervous about something.  He
just did not know what...He had
speculated, asked many times within
his mind and....zip, nada, zero....nyet!

“Jack...I”
The pause, bringing the still air to
a standstill even more....the air of
a crypt would have been a gale
compared to this moment....

“Jack, I’m pregnant”...

His spoon clunked in the bottom
of his empty cup....the sound not
so different from the click of
the latch...

Oy!  Barry, you do spin a good one.  I note that this does not state the end, so may one hope that this is not so?

I feel as if I'm becoming lost within a cliff hanger and hoping he makes the jump successfully, landing on his feet . . .
Until next week's episode!

I'm hooked.  Lead where you will, I will follow.

Back again.  Perhaps, this wasn't the end; I can see where you could go on.  I guess I read in a "surprise" ending and took it for granted that was it.  Anyway, bring it on if there is more....I am sure I will very much enjoy whatever more may flow.....jo

Ah, Barry, I was just recently gifted an Ed Schempp Persian -- a most beautiful blade.  I've not yet locked it away.  Oh, and no veggies around tonight.  Hmmmmm . . .

Teasing -- I've got it tucked away in my drawer at work.

You too have a good evening and a lovely Sunday.

Jo...

You almost jumped tooo quick...but that is
ok...  And nope,  not yet...but I do believe
the next will be the last...unless of course
I am threatened or coerced to write any more
afterwards..

Susan,  Whewww...glad it is at work...cause
I don't feel like a veggie tonite,  certainly
not one that is cooked and ready for cutting!

Thanx...

Magnus darling man, now that was a surprise, I love the series, the suspense was perfect. And yes I suspect there will be a few more, I’d coerced you but I doubt if I’d get away with threatening to let the wench out.

Absolutely beautiful writing darling man, your gift is to twist words into patterns of wonder and I’m utterly bespelled by the way you craft them so well

Ok....I'm in your place now...

I got a little confused over "time placement" with this, but I went back and re-read the series...

I'm with you now...

More, please.
