When I stand by the river that’s really a stream
and throw in a rock that’s really a pebble,
I watch how the water ripples outward in glee
and I ask of myself, “Is it laughing at me?”

When I look at the mountain that’s really a hill
and the trees, really bushes, wave back at me,
I see how their shadows extend length and breadth
and I ask of myself, “Am I more than I seem?”

When I don’t really dream but really can feel
how the movement of air tenses nerve ends of me,
I know there’s a thought in the ether of time
and I ask of myself, “What’s happening now?”

When I am tired, really tired, fast asleep
and awake to the moon that’s really the sun
I know I was shown how love really can be
and I ask of myself, “Can this ever be real?”

When it’s all happening and I’m really asleep
and the more than I seem is really in love,
I can’t help but laugh, really laugh till I cry,
for really, you know, nothing really is real!

Helen

"When it’s all happening and I’m really asleep
and the more than I seem is really in love,
I can’t help but laugh, really laugh till I cry,
for really, you know, nothing really is real!"

Nothing is real, because it's gone before we can even hold on to it....gone, or changed...except love.

Oh, I like the skip of this...

I felt like Alice in the house with the potions...first I'm large, and then I'm small, and then I'm just right again...

A definite

Karilea - if I whisper, will you listen?  Keeping in mind, I must stand close...

Hi Martie and Sunshine.  Thanks so much for the read.  I think love is a very sneaky thing - it has so many components to it and never shows itself in totality at one time.  We just manage to grasp one part and then, as you say, it's gone - but not really gone.
