I've become weary
as i drink the morning headlines;

this wretched world
smacks my face again,
as i stir the swirls
within a cup of java;

lay me down (when i must go)
and shower me joyously
in the petals of april;

upon the angry storms of winter
cast these thorns amid the refuse
that roars in february's ire;

i want to die, brand new,
a pretty picture,
within the landscape
of the new blooms of morning.

...but not for a long, long time...

because it only takes one,
to begin a better world...

Lovely, simply lovely, inkedgoddess.  The news does tend to make one think about it, doesn't it?  Have a pretty day...

~ Me too! ~ but let's not be in too much of a hurry!

I'd like to go out in a blaze of glory ~ not fade away into oblivion. Let's make a pact that we'll leave while our spirits are still young ~ even tho' the flesh be tired!

Fly away,
on the gentle spring breeze
you tender blossoms-
lest you wither in summer's heat
and torn apart by winter's wind.

This, I really understand, and I'm drinking my mourning coffee with you.  Beautiful verse, Inkedgoddess.   ....jo

Inky
The poetic arrangement of your words here is wonderful...standing, naked thoughts, exposed for all the "wretched world" to see.

The metaphor of "Februarys ire" is a very good parallel to the opening lines...seems everyday in February opens with bad headlines, a wicked month of mostly bad weather.

...and to "die brand new" I cannot imagine you doing anything but that...any poet worth their salt will be composing until the transition...I do not use the word (death) as I am a transcendentalist.
My feelings are that part of you is those flowers already, and they are part of you...
that some warm, April morning you will exchange forms with one of them...life form into life form
