SOLITUDE

Solitude, the definition;
The act of being, existing, alone.
Solitude, my life's ambition,
A curse carried to an empty throne.
With stern decor, emotional famine.
Only on passion have I sustained.
A once plethoric chalice I now examine,
Only to find that it, too, has been drained.

Feigned sincerity, a scintillating tease,
May seduce the heart, but fails the soul.
For Time departs, thus would displease
That pristine illusion, that gloriole.
As I wander, decadent, in darkness,
My rotting soul dancing in dearth.
Impaled upon a stake of starkness
Of what I once thought life was worth.

Stoical glory subsides to shadows,
Eyes grow dim, bones become frail,
As every muted moment foreshadows
The pitch-black silence of a nascent veil.
Dawning the disposal of dispassion,
Spawning images of a sightless stare,
(A susceptive indifference of fashion),
The solitude of death at least we'll share.

Solitude is a wonderful thing. 'Tis pleasant compared to being lonely or heartbroken, but poor company when you wish to share such things.

Hail and well met, my Darkest of friends.

Bravo indeed sir, may you find solace in your solitude, for in the end do we seek for more than peace?

This is spectacular, M! I don't deserve to comment. And so, let it stand alone in it's glorious depictions.

The moon was bright overhead when I reembarked in the pinnace to return to my ship. A chill night breeze came whispering down from the depths of the valley, and suddenly the place was full of ghosts,-shadows of men alive and dead,- my own among them.
