state of confusion

0 posted 2004-04-22 01:18 PM

His eyes see a hand, but it couldn’t be his,
not this swollen claw, banana-brown in rot,
fish scales growing wild within.

The limb betrays, goes rigid with spasms,
knowing loss before it comes.
His eyes blink, close.

White enters a white room,
drapes blue disposable textile,
a hole cut where a whole will be cut.
A chest rises, made slow with false rest.

In the background, a saw whirs.

Sorry for the dark poem, folks. About a family member with cancer.

Sad but very accurately described Corinne.

No need to apologize, just a need to write.

Corinne, it had too much truth
to not be known personally.

Harsh realities.

Thank you.

Having been touch by the Big-C myself, I can relate.  I hope you embrace the fact that HERE you may express yourself without appology.  Althugh dark, I enjoyed!

I hold you and your family member in prayerful thought~
