You gave me your legacy
my birthday and my life
Your quietness, hesitancy
a treasured old sharpened knife.

You gave me your wisdom,
you shared with me your tears.
Those moments of old iron trains
and baseball season’s cheers.

A smile and a hearty laugh
that lasts through all time.
A warm hug, a thought or two
an old worn weathered dime.

You gave me the air I breath
as you made a small babe cry.
Without I might not have been
without you, I might have died.

You guided me down a worn path
beyond the light where shadows lay.
You calmed the fear and fright I felt...
You carried me back home to stay.

I never won the annual phone call race
to be the first to tell to you
Merry Christmas, Happy Turkey Day
or simply that I loved you too.

This year is so much different
without your voice to hear.
The silence is overwhelming
and sadness brings a tear.

Happy Father’s Day Dad....
I would have called you
if only I could....

Ah Barry...you have poured your heart and soul into this write.
Absolutely beautiful and filled with so many memories.
I know it will be hard this year..but it does get easier.
Your dad is very proud of you, you can be sure of that.
~Heart hugs and soft smiles, Nancy~

Beautiful, loving write Barry...as I knew it would be when it came (been waiting for it you see...).  It's all I expected and more.

This is about the most moving, roller coaster ride of emotions, write I have read here.  It spoke to me loudly.  My ears still stinging from the depth and purposed message you so penned so eloquently.  I have a lump in my throat.  Not easy to do to me.  I remember well a lot of your memories in my relationship with my father.  Oh, how I have taken all of those things and put them up in the cobwebs, nearly forgotten.  What a travesty that would have been.  You have reminded me of how unconditionally my father loves me, regardless of the fact that we don't talk much - both to busy.  You made me excited to call him.  Your poem was both inspiring and amazing.  Thank you very much for the gift you have just given me.

Warm regards,

Kevin

Barry

A loving tribute, dear man...you may be able to call him on the spirit line, for something tells me he is listening to your rhyme.     Happy Father's day!

Barry, this poem really touched my heart. I could
feel your pain throughout. I can only imagine
how hard it is this Father's Day for you. My
thoughts are with you, dear Barry.
Heart Hugs,
Ethel

Barry, you had no need to call your father ~
he heard your heart speak.

A beautiful write from a beautiful soul.

Your father is smiling at you...

Loving hugs,
Linda
