metaphorical
allegorical
euphemorical
is it all a game?

if I use them
don’t abuse them
will they ever
be the same?

if the whispers
of the aspen
spoke of life
in sweet refrain

could the rafters
echo anger
or one ounce
of harsh disdain?

if my smiles
were only painted
would you react
in ponderous strain?

it the truth
were somehow tainted
would the outcome
be dreadful stain?

in the fantasy
of a trilogy
could one’s wisdom
still remain?

if an adage
was turned savage
would its meaning
be untamed?

if I woke up
from this stupor
would you find me
quite insane?
