Twilight fades as I rest
My back upon this brick wall
My soul in this alley
I sit beside trash, and rats, and all
For such a pitiful stranger I am
But my memory remembers something more simple
Though as complex as the darkness in my eyes
A loss of life and twinkle
I am as in love as no one else
In love with you
I am as in love with you as is no one else

My eyes wonder through this night
Past shadows and sketchy noises of this empty night
As fallen out of sleep as these strangers so strange
Full of empty faces and lost dreams so estranged

But the more I watch these bleak creatures
The more I remember the lost lover I use to hold
Though behold the end of this bliss and onto leaches
A dark time of loveless and Godless times of old

But it is now

I see such with my back on this wall of brick
My hopeless soul lost in this labyrinth of an alley
Breathing the air as cold as needles, the night for the unhappy
That is me, the one foolish and jaded, ever sick

But it is now I remember my lover
With my broken heart
Full of romance of fools and shame
I listen to her fading voice
Weak and ailing
She’s shaking in this cold blanket of a night
My lost lover behind the choruses of Love
Intensely enticed
She is my shadow
And I nothing more
We both useless in this world of use
Both our necks in the nightly noose
Bleeding through the Lover’s vow

Love is only an excuse to hurt and to get hurt... Knowledge brings ye fear.

Don't remember if I welcomed you yet or not (senior moment here) -- so Welcome!  This was a very potent write -- lots of originality!
