My Staff

My staff is made of humble wood
A piece of tree where life once stood
It aids me on my path of wear
The things that I would do and dare

It lights my fire, tends my sheep
And is my strength when I’m asleep
It keeps me steady when I walk
And is my friend when strangers talk

But even stone will wear in time
Beneath the bear of age and grime
And wood is no exception to
The wear and tear that comes to you

We all wear down into the ground
Where every living form is found
It is on which all change will dine
Within the brew and aqua line

So if you would the slow and quick
Make sure you have a walking stick

If Clinton would have stuck to this kind of "staff"...his reputation would have been far more appealing....this is one of your best Sy....I enjoyed...(I know, you thought I was really going to write something off color about this didn't ya?)

your rhymes are made from the same humility and humanity as your walking stick...
your poetry keeps the pace and keeps us on the right path.

We had a heck of a wind through our neck of the woods over the weekend, Sy...and believe it or not, I took one of those deadwood limbs and have planned to use it as my own walking stick...

once again, m'friend, your timing is impeccable.  But then, your dapperness is always appealing!

Happy Spring morning, Mr. T.!

Your staff serves you well! You walk with dignity and grace! Your step is strong and  steady ~ and on the ready!

Wood, I mean "would" you tell your little Earthy Angel, where I might find such a tree from which I could fashion a flying stick?

Loved your poem! Love you!

Enjoyed your reply, hugs.

Earth Angel,
OK but you have to be careful, there are those for Angels and those for witches. LOL
