Hidden in the Tall Grass

The stillness in the air is the stillness before that terrible storm.
Seen from the eyes of past ages, the generations now worn.
Scattering images that cry into the nights from so long ago.
Tears fallen with the years, dried up now, just memories of old.

Where are the prophets for today, singing their songs of love and hope.
The watchman dead, buried, silence from the wall, hidden in its slope.

Thunder can be heard in the distance, brewing tempest, rousing currents,
and echoing through the valleys of death, itching ears, comfortless dreams burn.
Empty eyes praying for the lighting, the unrolling of the elements to their end.
Waiting for the noise of peace, to break the silence and a frenzied storm to bend.
Uncertainty, weeping sadness covers their shame, in their assurance of who or what they may blame.

East of Eden stirring in the sands this endless whirlpool began, churning into a squall, moving through time its legend has spun, to a tempest, a firestorm to maul.

Fearless children, soldiers all, moving into battle, shielding freedom’s fall,
Vicariously enduring as conquerors, life to prevail, as truth unveiled.
Hidden in the tall grass, watching for the trumpeter of the lightning to reveal,
the meanings of the secrets, closed up, beneath the scarlet golden seals.

What time has come for the beginning of that end?

Listen as the Trumpet sounds across the hills and valleys echoing:
‘Death is about to unfold’ life now is not for the weary, but the bold.
Seek out your weapons, your places to hide.

Swallow it now - your ignorant pride, that rude reflection in the glass,
That reflection you have hidden, hidden in the tall grass.
