I wrote this poem for my dads 80th birthday
next week he has surgery to remove an apparently cancerous tumor from his lung...

How old is old
We asked today
Old enough told me this way
We asked again to know just what old was
Seems we all feel it somewhat
Is 30 old seemed innocent to say
No 30 is young
The sprits say
But 40 is old we all knew that
No 40 isn’t old
You should understand that
Well we just need to know is all
How old is old among us all
Maybe 50 starts the clock
That must be old we know that!
But 50 isn’t old we were told
What makes you want to know what is old
We wonder if we all
Face some part of old today
But surely 60 has crossed the line
No 60 looks to me just fine
Are you sure we asked the sage
I’m sure now! Just act your age
Act our age just what is that
Maybe it is when we got fat
How about 70 we are sure it’s old
No 70 is just when we get bold
And live with knowing oh so much
We know that loving is more than a hunch
So 80 must be that tender age
When old begins just ask the sage
But oh who is that sage we ask
It’s Dad and he is 80 now
So before that 80 year old sage we bow
Happy 80th Dad we are in awe – wow!
You’ve lived a lot and we all have lived
With life and love that you have bid
Thanks for all you have given to us
So much that makes us all who we are
The persons we are
You had something to do with all of that
Dad we love you oh so much…
Your kids - pbmbb

Paul

Perhaps old is when we can't count anymore, the number of people that admire and love us?

Happy Birthday, Paul's father!!!

We are never old if our mind stays young.
Our body may feel 180 but our mind may feel 20. I have stayed at 39 for a few years now and my body says 39......Yeah Right.
Good One.

Paul~You're only  as old as you feel...
and for the past few decades I've felt pretty young for my age...
some say I act it too.
I want you to know prayers will be going out to your Dad..
that all things will go well...and wish him a happy 80th too!
