Of Stallions and Mares and Airs

So you think you know what the stallion wants?
Or what the mare is willing to offer?
Not the ‘airs’ you thought were there
but something altogether different.
Fiesta.
It is no longer just the holiday fun days I once thought.
Now? It’s a black Lippizaner stallion,
head held high,
who escaped from the paddock, jumped the fence
to ‘hang out’ with the mares in the pasture.
Uh-oh!
Well, he wanted more than to simply hang out.
But the mares were not terribly interested (diestrus).
But this one mare seemed to be confused, inconsistent,
seemingly caught between the proverbial
rock-and-a-hard-place (estrus and diestrus),
teasing the stallion, then thumping him each time he approached.
So this stallion named Fiesta got thumped today, repeatedly.
By the time he was ‘rescued’ from the pasture by a two legged,
he was tired, and suffering from multiple rejections.
Hmm. And as for the airs, those fancy flying scenes you’ve seen?
Have you ever seen the fancy white stallions that hop on their hind legs,
majestic and beautiful, with amazing strength and precision body movements?
They are beautiful, impressive, a sight to see.
Now picture this same stallion, in rare ebony…
attempting nature’s bidding and being kicked in return.
Yes, I saw Fiesta in action today,
with two mares performing a rejection action.
He is in his stall tonight, singing a Rolling Stones tune.
*

(only a 99% true story, as I am not sure Fiesta is singing tonight)

LOL, glad to give you a chuckle.

Fiesta is a bit more docile today, thank goodness. But of course, still kicks the stall door and walls, demanding attention.

I've got a mare who probably wouldn't reject him...

And maybe the sun will shine for an hour or two tomorrow so that I can go for a ride and just ride and ride until I've left everything behind and it's
