To Lose What Mattered

Where are they now
When they say they care
Why did they tell me
They will always be there

Whatever happened
Do they forget so easily
Have they moved on
I'm not missed obviously

Why are they evasive
Would they rather ignore
Had they planned this
Do I not matter anymore

When being forgotten
Its the emotional impact
To lose what mattered
Shattered becomes fact

Oh this is sad.  It makes me think of the elderly in nursing homes with no family to visit them.  Such sorrow and lonliness.

Thanks Susan , funny you should say that , my son works in a nursing home and sees the forgotten lonely people daily ....but this was me feeling forgotten
Hope
P.s by the way I did change a line in the last verse....

When being forgotten
My heart felt the impact
To lose what mattered
Shattered becomes fact

Yes, I figured it was you, but I could not help but see their lonely forgotten faces when I read this.  I hope all works out for you.

Friends are far and few between....I kind of like counting them on one hand myself.
and yes Hope, I understand your disappointment as if it were my own.

Much enjoyed this poem of yours~
