Shells hurt my feet,
as I walk the beach alone.
Contemplating the horizon
that held so much color
only so short a time ago.

I am vaguely aware
of the trail of blood I leave
for the tide to wash away.

Wondering of the future,
if the suns new rise
will replenish color.

Wiping slate,
giving rays of hope
to those who
lost their way
in the darkness.

Showing a new path
with softer shells,
less blood shed.

A path where the soul
can live in contentment
and breathe with ease.

I feel the prick of salt
in the wounds...
a melancholy write, Susan...

From the well of sad sorrows
I walk the shells of tomorrow
The deep cuts I no longer feel
The pain rises making me tougher
As the calluses grow ever rougher
A blood path to the newly real

Hi Susan...beautifully written....and it will be...will it to be, live it, dream it, and want it, that you make it happen.

I love the beach, Susan....but the seashells do hurt...
and can cause blood just like heartache feels....

Susan,
Over time, perhaps those shells be washed out to sea to come back with rounded edges.
  Be well.
