Folk/Rock genre...... I fear this character comes across as too much of a loser but hell, I had a ball writing this anyway......

Now the week has passed work's done at last
Billy's gonna have some fun
He knows a spot where the music rocks
and the girls are two to one
Strolls in there like he has no cares
actin like He's twenty-one
using words for amazin the ladies waitin
for a partying son of a gun

Chorus:
Hey, it's Friday night at old Sweetwaters
Billy's gonna dance with sympathy's daughter
fill up with whiskey to escape his mind
laugh and sing till closing time
Try to convince young Mary or Jane
He's the Don Quixote for love starved pain
With just for men hair and Gucci shoes
He's an esquire cover up for feelin blue.

But Billy's out in the hall after last call
the lights turned up hurting his eyes
Remembering her and the things they'd do
roll in and out of his mind
Once in a while he gets smiles
from young girls passin by
But the truth be known he's so alone
Inside he's ready to cry

ch#2
Hey, it's Friday night at old Sweetwaters
Billy's been dancing with sympathy's daughter
He drank lots a whiskey to escape his mind
but he's by himself at closing time
There ain't no Mary ain't no Jane
Just him thinkin bout her again
With just for men hair and Gucci shoes
He's an esquire cover up for feelin blue

bridge
They used to order pizza n have a late night laugh
cause they couldn't make love feelin so fat
but when morning came they'd shower together
skin to skin there was nothing better
now he's payin the price in this little town
where there ain't no cure for foolin around...

ch#2 rep
Hey, it's Friday night at the old Sweetwaters
Billy's benn dancing with sympathy's daughter
He drank lots a whiskey to escape his mind
but he's by himself at closing time
There ain't no Mary ain't no Jane
Just him thinkin bout her again
With just for men hair and Gucci shoes
He's an esquire cover up for feelin blue............fade

Enjoyed this very much, Ethome...
there's been some days where I
felt I could very well play
sympathy's daughter...

you may want to catch Fagin's write [it's somewhere over on Page 2, if you are set to 200] because I think you'll enjoy him...I know he's been reading yours...he's newly registered, so it will take him awhile to get use to his new surroundings...

I like this one.  The rhythm was well-defined and I felt like I was singing along.  I really like the 'sympathy's daughter' too.

Just who is sympathy's daughter? Love the country in this.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Late last night at Sweetwaters
We were hungry for a snack,
We planned  an all nighter
We sat way in the back
We all ordered something to drink
Some whiskey mixed with cokes
And gabbed about all kinds of things
And told some dirty jokes
We didn't cause no trouble
Till suddenly this man
Leaped up from his barstool seat
And pointed with his hand
Said to us with burning eyes
His voice was like a hiss:
"The sky is falling, the world will end!
And then right after this
He turned to run
But hadn't seen
By the door, the gum machine
He knocked it over, with a crash
And left Sweetwaters in a dash
Gum balls were spilled
Went off the curb,
NO one seemed to care,
No one even spoke a word,
"What the hell's eating him?"
We wondered in the lull
This is not a true tale but,
Who needs the truth if it's dull?

Loved your write ethome....can I hear ya play it sometime on your new Larrivee?
