where the wild flowers grow

0 posted 2004-05-14 02:53 AM

You
abandoned me,
before I could emerge
from
the dust.

I left a trail of flowers and honey
behind me.
A pensive hope to be devoured
by the bees.

It was here
that I swallowed a thousand goodbyes,
never finding one that could satisfy.

I felt a heartbeat,
below the ground
haunting the soil.
This once was my grave,
that I am standing upon.

I yearn for night,
the chill of winter comes only then.

If only
I would not have to struggle
to keep this flower alive,
bound by it's breath and
it's wilting petals,
I will heat it with my anger
and unrequited love.

There is nothing quite like this,

the earth is heaving a heavy sigh.

Melancholia drapes well over you
when you do it such justice.
