~* The Miracle Of Gentle Peace *~

I vaguely remember the day I waited
To feel the screaming inside me stop.
A want of simply crying, holding you
Desperate in my anticipation
Of nature’s intended gentle peace.

This is where love for me truly began.
Winning that game ultimately
Became the point of exhaustion
Where contractions ceased and life began.
A journey of two to find that gentle peace.

Such a supple sweet smelling wetness
Straddled my belly pooling in our sweat.
You, shuttering in trepidations
With eyes of cries and sighs,
Now that was truly gentle peace.

Gentle peace is the last memory
Of that painful displacement
Somehow always replaced by
Suckling sounds of bonds of love
That time can't re-wind, nor move ahead.

So unbreakable are these bonds
That each tiny thread is forever woven
Never to be unraveled by anyone or anything.
Then one day, you too knit your own blanket
Out of this truly miraculous thread.
I still recall the shutter and wonder of it all.
That was the day you too knew this gentle peace.

Thank you for all that you are,
and for always sharing your blankie with me.

Love,
Mom

I think I need a "blankie" to soak up my sentimental tears. Gosh almighty, your words really choked me up, Sharon! That was absolutely beautiful and a keepsake poem for your family for sure! You are like a fragrant rose that everyone would like to have in their home, garden ~ and family...

I had the most incredible Mother's Day ever!  I realized just how grateful I was not only to have this man in my life, but his entire family.  They spoil me, they truly do.  Todd, was born 12 lbs. 11 oz. way back when they didn't have that spinal comfort they do now, and I had the WORST labor ever! It went on for over two days but when I saw him - WOW! I forgot that ordeal even happened, and every single time I look at him, I can't believe the miracle he is.

Pardon me while I "gush" a bit and thank you for reading this.

You have every right to 'gush' sweet lady!
I'm so pleased you had a wonderful Mother's Day...
And, I do recall this time of peace with my children.

I'll bet he will love this Sharon. I know I sure do. You've got a heart of gold, my friend, and Todd is one lucky young man, to have such a wonderful mom as you. Love you bunches.

Best wishes and hugs,

I got a few words from my son as I sent this poem to him at work.  I had forgotten a very funny moment that transpired on Mother's Day.  His youngest decided to uproot plants at a nursery to give him as a present!  It didn't go over well at the nursery, but we fixed the plants up or bought the remaining "presents."       Here is what Todd has to say about his poem, but no one enjoys poetry in my family but his daughter and me.

"Thanks for the lovely words.  I had a fun and enriched day also, (except for when Tasha ripped growing flowers out to give me at the Nursery.)  Thank you all for sharing a special time with us, and I am so glad you enjoyed it."

This is surely a year for gratitude on Mother's Day - Todd, you keep your mother young... Or do you turn her gray?  Or both?  Whatever the case, you're her reason for being, and this poem says that in style... Happy Day to you all...

Sharon the emotional expression in this is of such depth the reader has to feel it...
you turned "gushing" pride and love into a beautiful Mother's poem.
So good to see you posting again.
lovely lovely write dear poetess.

I love you more the further I go ...
before this existence ... you were always here inside of me.

Nan said it bang on ... I am so grateful, and yes they keep me young, but also tend to turn my golden threads to silver at the same time!  Thanks again everyone for sharing in one of my "moments in time."
