Time Travel Today my son traveled back in time. A time when he had skinned knees and a frog in his pocket. A time the only worry was..... Will mom find the frog in his pocket as he falls into a peaceful sleep. A time when pies in the face and silly jokes was his daily treat. Splashing in puddles and playing in the mud. Yes! Today my son traveled back in time. A time when he watched Captain Kangaroo and Speed Racer. A time of bicycles and skate boards. What will mama say when she finds holes in my brand new shoes. A time for making strange armpit sounds and giggling laughter. Making a water raft from rusty ole barrels, being a pirate for the day. Yes! Today my son traveled back in time. A grown man now with many adult worries. A small store, a guest coming to town. This celebrity was an eye catching thrill to my son when he was young. Today he would meet this man he remembered from so long ago. The man who made him laugh with his silly ways. My son thrown back in time glowing from the thrill of meeting this man of his childhood. Signed autographs and posters, pictures taken. My son standing, eyes twinkling, so proud to shake his hand. As his guest takes his leave. My son is thinking ahead- Mom Who can we have next year? Wouldn’t it be neat if one of the Stargate stars would come to town Or What about Star Trek or maybe Weird Al? I bet we couldn’t afford them mom. But! I could check and see how much. Maybe I could get a band to come on our store’s anniversary. Wow! Mom this was great. Today my son happily traveled back in time. A time when he had skinned knees and a frog in his pocket.
