“You’ve lost another dozen pounds” I heard the doctor say.
“It’s almost like you’ve dropped a person somewhere along the way.”
“One hundred twenty is the total. You have really seen this through.”
“I cannot believe I’ve lost that much. It is my dream come true.”

And so I walked out to the car my smile was two miles wide.
The happiness and true elation I could not possibly hide.
I thought back on the last seven months and how my life has changed;
How the things about my life have been completely rearranged.

No longer do I need a wheelchair to get myself around.
I can reach below and pick up things that have fallen to the ground.
Can you imagine not being able to even tie your shoes?
It’s great to go out shopping and get clothes that are brand new.

It is fun to see the looks on the faces of people that I know.
They can’t believe it is I they see, the loss, it really shows.
“You’ve lost so much! How do you feel?” they always seem to say.
My beaming grin behind my blush gives my thoughts away.

I am very thankful to be alive each morning when I wake.
I am grateful for every breath with each easy step I take.
I appreciate my family and friends who have helped me to be strong.
I am thrilled for all those ugly pounds that are forever gone.

So if you see me and I look as if I am moving through a dream.
Don’t be surprised if I throw up my fist and let out a hearty scream.
“I am beautiful! I am proud of myself! I won’t stop until I am thin!
I am a winner! I love who I am! This battle I am going to win!”

This is a great poem, written in the true Balladeer style.  Wonderfully done, with no cheating on the phases to make the lines rhyme.  Absolutely beautiful!

Thank you, LJA. Getting such complimentary words from the master writer himself is a thrill for me.

This was really good....

We're gettin' sick and tired
That's all ya hear,
'Bout biking, and hiking
And tonin' up our rears

What's happened to the days
Of hips and curves?
All this talkin bout that Adkins
Is gettin' on my nerves

There's just one way
I want to work up a sweat
And you haven't seen
My aerobics yet..

We'll turn your bedroom
Into a gym
When we come out
We'll be slim and trim...

The wider the hip....the tighter the grip!!!

Toerag, your way sounds like a lot more fun than counting carbs but your response would have been perfect without that last line....

Youngatheart, you have done a great job and your health is the most important thing here.
