Visiting Earth on a Guest Pass

I Have No Garden

I have no garden,
just a few mundane flowers
and sometimes a rose or two;
this morning frost took them.
They say it splits the cells,
their fragile walls ripped open,
spread naked to the dessicating air
by blades of ice too small to see.
It didn't take an avalanche;
a coin's weight of frost was enough,
one hint of white so quickly gone
and the sun fell wasted
on their dying forms.
But I have no garden;
just a few mundane flowers
and sometimes a rose or two....

My roses are all covered with snow.
But in place of the rose I have two little bunnies that come and visit each morning looking for their treat of carrots.
Also when you have the time read SPRING it has a beautiful picture of spring in bloom.

Ed...I picked tomatoes last night...they were beautiful...like late summer...covered with the jewel of light rain.  The roses will come back...it is the way of the seasons. Enjoyed the imagery in this and I felt sad for the underlying feeling of loss.

Warm hugs!

These are words that make us FEEL the process of green living becoming brown shriveled... your images take us beyond observation and into experiencing.

Beautiful work, my friend!

We are experiencing a heavy ice storm here in St. Louis...I hate ice, now more than before for you deserve a most beautiful garden!

A sad and tender write.

(sigh) Oh Ed, this is sad but has a tinge of hope, sweet friend, may the dew come in and blanket the garden and spring bring you a record number of perennials! (big angel hugs) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ed, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Ah, but you picked a poetic bouquet of vivid imagery to let us in on the loss~

Deep admiration, my friend~

It's a delicate balance between the petals and thorns.....
but the roses still thrive, and survive the winter.

Smile now~

I really like this. It makes the reader see something ordinary in a completely different light. Great Write!

the mundane ones are those you could pay special attention to, dontcha know....
you might find even more than a rose...
although a rose is a rose is a rose...
just a thought ~K~

RatL.,
  Thank you for this most powerful post; it causes lingering.   I've read it four times with near a tear in my eye, but upon examination, I ask myself, "if a cell is ripped in two, where does that life-energy go?"  I can see a lot of it landed in your poem, but I believe somewhere energy will collect itself and accumulate with other
energy.  Perhaps, it will fall upon a meadow,
reincarnated as wild flowers.
    Excellent, excellent...  Another trip to the library.

The lack of my computer skills astounds me!   I forgot to click Add Thread to Library box, consequently had to do this allllll over....
   Anyway, I enjoyed the write and will now check the little box!

Well woven imagery.  It seems to be the season for feeling loss.

Whether it's sheets of plastic in the
winter. Or, extra water in the summer,
all we can do is try our best.

But then how can we argue with mother nature?

She's been doing this far longer then we have,
and we're all still here...

Well, at least for now anyway...

Terrific write Ed!
