Give A Little - Take A Lot

is there truly a world
without music
and if so I pray I do not
fall behind that wall of darkness
that would veil me of it
even now the thought
brings me to the brink of tears
from these eyes that were
born for softer things
and as of late I grow
weary of these worries
and wonder is this why
I was gifted sight of things
that others never see
but the cruelty in that gift
would be the taking away
the notes that set them free

Yes, how much can we take ... and still hear the music?
Touching write.

***personal note from the author

I know I shouldn’t post on my own poem but I must explain this…with everything that is going on with me health wise there is a possibility I could lose my hearing…the thought of living in a world of silence is more than I can deal with at the moment…I can not even begin to fathom the idea of never hearing the sound of my children’s voices nor another note as music is so much a part of my life…the fear of the unknown is almost unbearable right now…so please forgive me this indulgence to vent. helen

I felt drawn to come in here again. I am so sorry to hear that you are risking so much. I feel with you and understand your worries. Let's hope that they are not justified. In the same time please consider that modern technology and surgery can reach absolutely stunning results. It is almost impossible to drift in total deafness.
I wish you to trust and to recover perfect health.

Helen~

After reading your personal notation on the poem, I'm happy to know I received the correct feelings when I read your words.  I will keep you in my prayers during this time of unknowing for you.

Amazing writing.  Sometimes, late at night, when all else is still and quiet, if you listen intensely, you will always here it.

Powerfully expressed with beautiful words Helen. As always, you are in my heart and prayers.

Hi,

I've been reading a lot of your poems and I can't remember any there I didn't enjoy reading. Some are what I could say, close to perfection such is the beauty and the way the words and feelings are expressed.
Now that you're going through a hard time, all I can say and hope is that everything will end up alright, and no matter what happen, you won't ever lose that gift you have..writting in such a beautiful way.
Kisses for you

What a beautiful, painful write... With profound hearing loss prevalent in my family, I understand this fear completely... I pray for you too, dear lady.
