Keeping the Soul Alive

When love has given naught but fierce flames’ throes
And iced the hearts of lovers cold
When those who wore the cloaks of adoration shed
Their skins of constant care instead

When essence of amour is freshly staled by discontent
And those who love are now far spent
When souls depart and leave their own for yet another’s
Arms apart from those who loved each other

Sometimes the only way for those who suffer to survive
Is to learn that to love one’s self will keep the dying soul alive

If all there is, is the flame then it is going to die fast,,,,the real thing has plenty of kindling to get it thru the colder times, and to flare up on long nights,,,good write
