Flaming Candles and Ink Stained Spills

I am flaming candles and ink stained spills,
And I hear the chortle of youth like rain,
Home's not Berkshire or Beverly Hills,
Yet for this little town I'll not complain.
All plausibility's dangle 'fore me,
I'm unhampered by the sway of order,
I am but a scribe of the heart's debris,
Against mine own demons I'm the warder.

I gather my friends will stay near always,
Like a pregnant fem I've birthed great motifs,
Mine artistry illumines darkened hallways,
My heart's been wedded to higher beliefs.
I dread that I'll forget the lessons learned,
I've cried as my friends have emptied themselves,
Little fragments of my love oft are spurned,
I'm the knowledge amassed upon these shelves.

I accept youth won't make me immortal,
God illuminates the smoky corners,
A sniggle is merely the soul's portal,
And there are times when we all are mourners.
I've seen the firmament cracked with brilliance,
The grandeur of the highlands gives me chills,
I'm an irrepressible resilience,
I am flaming candles and ink stained spills.

Past the hum of journey, through the steel gate,
I'll thrust towards a quieter province,
Where the ponderous standing timber's wait,
And 'tis there amongst the flowering quince,
With petals of deepest rose and salmon,
That I'll stretch forth my hand and cup moonbeams,
For the silvery shafts I'd examine,
My beliefs are wedded to higher themes.

I might relax my pace to a staid stroll,
Than rest to breathe in the pigments of spring,
Truly I find the speed of being droll,
There's beauty enough in each living thing.
The cloud-jostled, jovial sky is blue,
Through the trees dear glimpses of her fair face,
And love; oh my sweet love, is tried and true,
The dream will be mine to forever chase.

I have attained an old-world enclosed calm,
Behold I am courtly. By chance I move,
I oppose life's hazards with cool aplomb,
And I care naught if the heavens approve.
Past flower's shouting kaleidoscopic cries,
Which merely are foils to firm footfalls,
I crawl without seeing with mine doll's eyes,
I am flaming candles and ink stained scrawls.

An artiste mind doth range the world forlorn,
Swallowing all feeling just to author;
The incomplete images we stillborn,
In refinement we're the esprit de corps.
'Tis not enough to share a passing night,
Nor watch the sun rise on the misty morn,
For only our injured hearts take delight,
In tearing from our flesh poetry's thorn.

Spring begets autumn, summer sire's winter,
With a solstice and equinox twixt each,
And yet time's passing is but a splinter,
That pierces my heart and takes away speech.
The Chinese speak of the Ying and the Yang,
Of cinder and emerald antonyms,
Confucius oft talks about love's guilt pang,
But it seems in mine eyes; life is just whims.

In between the sea's waves and the Earth's roots,
There is found a shore, kelp strewn, salty smell,
And 'tis there I hear the playing of flutes,
'Tis there, forevermore, mine heart would dwell.
In between the sun's rays and the moon's beams,
There is found twilight, late light, frosty chills,
And 'tis there I will find my lofty dreams,
I am flaming candles and ink stained spills.

Now I am 2 for 2 this morning Enchantress. (Wild laugh.) Now that my head has grown so big from your two great comments I think I will go by a new hat. 10 sizes bigger! In sincerity though...thanks...it means a lot when I get your stamp of approval on a piece.
