Beneath a smile, a hug, a kiss
all that was no longer is
and hope becomes a useless tool
harboured in the mind of fools.

Amongst the remnants of a heart
must now lie pieces of the past
soon to fade like sweet moonlight
with the dawning of a different life.

But still to land a soul is tied
till death releases all mankind
to cry the tears no one can see
and flood that realm with memories.

To love and lose, to live and die,
and someone surely laughs tonight!
