I tried to think of why I'm angry,
when random sparks of life
send you flashing through my mind.
I'm not that guy who holds a grudge.
Sure,
I'm the one who taught you
the fine lines that separate revenge
and vengeance,
and you might recall some of the times
you saw me sample each,
but,
what good was it to teach you loyalty,
when you so freely choose to forget?
Then I realized you are like a taxi,
without brakes or rearview mirror.

I wish I could get angry...maybe then I would get some of these negative feelings of self out of me.

Your face  doesn't look like it could hold anger very long.

Sounds like something that I should read to my oldest son....
"what good was it to teach you loyalty,
when you so freely choose to forget?"
BTW, I can't recall the difference between revenge and vengeance?
anyway... I enjoyed reading this poem....made me think hard about a couple things...Thanks icebox

Grover ~ Thank you for reading and for your comment.

Midnitesun ~ *smile* Why did that not surprise me?  Thank you for your comment.

Enchantress ~ I am glad you enjoyed it!  Thank you for telling me.

nakdthoughts ~ You are correct that releasing anger can help. Remember, looks can be deceiving. *smile*  Thank you for your thoughts.

ice ~ Vengeance is served hot right out of the flames of emotion; it burns all who touch it.  Revenge is dessert for the patient; it is best served very cold.  Thank you for reading this and for your comments.

I read this earlier before I went to work and didn't know what to say...

I still don't.

But here I am.

I like the way you closed this little piece of reflective anger.
Really enjoy your work

Even tho it sounds familiar, I can't say I was ever a taxi. I never had the sense to have a meter installed. But in retrospect, I confess to some convenient loyalty. sigh.

You always make me think. Even when I don't wanna. *grumble*

I've taken a ride or two in similar hacks...Once on the road, you wonder why you spent the energy catchin' it

I'm glad it's not me on the other end of this one, it's got two barrels and a real light trigger.

I took a ride in a taxi once -- all I can say is that it hurt like hell when I jumped out and I never, ever, never will forget the driver.  Enjoyed the poem, Icebox.

I'm still here reading, icebox, and am never disappointed.  It seems that taxis the world over are the same - and human beings too so, can we really and truly say that we are "individuals"?
