Esophagogastroduodenoscopy

Is grammatically a favorite word for me

It has nothing to do with it's anatomy

Nor the practice of gastroenterology

Instead I like it for it’s sheer ability

To exercise my tongue's pronouncibility

ESOPHAGOGASTRODUODENOSCOPY:

When doctors stick a scope in you so they can see

What is ailing your poor system, digestively

It’s a term used quite often, speaking medically

Rarely is it spelled out in it’s entirety

Instead most doctors write it as “EGD”

I really love to learn this terminology

it makes me feel I’m quite keen intellectually

this is a true sign of my personality

I’m the poster child for illness called OCD

No wonder my profession comes so naturally

The transcriptionists’ title fits me perfectly!

I am not a transcriptionist, actually, although I did take courses to become one.  I absolutely adored my medical terminology class, and was inspired by that tonight.  It is a really cool word, don't you think?  It is actually a procedure in which a physician is able to visualize, through the use of a scope which is placed down a patient's throat, the esophagus, stomach and upper small intestines.  I know, "ick", but the word is very cool.

(smiles) Hey hey, what about the Mary Poppins word (which I cannot spell, LOL!) Supercalifragalisticexpecalidocious, something like that! (giggles) This is sooooooooooo cute, sweet friend, I'll all about learning new words and experimenting with them, you know I love this, I love the sound of that word too, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet McLean, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Very good!  I love this.  When I am feeling intimidated by the big shots, I pull out those "big gun" words, though I just have quite figured out how to work this one into the conversation.

Big time smiling!

LOL...how clever! I took a medical transcriptionist course as well, in order that I might have a better understanding of the medical records I summarize in my job as legal assistant [go figure!]

However, I never thought to make a poem of it!

Too cute!

So that's what it's actually called!

This is hilarious, and I share your joy of fun with words.

And I now intend to learn how to say that too.

So glad you are enjoying my little rhyme...it was fun scrounging up the words for this one.

I would love to see some other silly writes centered around a word...for sheer fun.  You know, like Recepticle or Underpinning or Sticky Residue Left On A Naked Soup Can...something.  It's quite a stress reliever to write without emotion...well, you know what I mean!

McLean, this word really caught my eye, because I have had many of these type procedures done. My stomach is a mess. Ugh I have had four operations on my stomach and esophagus. I now have mesh in my stomach to try to keep hernias from occuring again. My lung problems make me cough a lot, which in turn causes them.

Well, I didn't mean to give you my medical history. LOL

Fantastic...for me the word is:

antidisestablishmentarianism...sounded so cool in the sixties...at least it was a lot more grown up sounding than supercalifragilisticexpialadocious (sp?)

And I always thought it was called the littlestomachcamerathingamabobber?

I’m gonna have to correct my physician the next time I see him!

lol

That was really cute McLean.
