My love
It has been now many months
And I am empty.

In time I thought Allah would fill me
With needs and purpose to do his will
Yet,
The rose along the river is in bloom
And I have no nose for its fragrance
Nor eye for the petals unfold

It is void,
This season when in remember
I touched your hand
My own find that sunlight
Squeezes between fingers and air
Is cold in my palms
Where once I cupped your chin
And held your flesh
As we in press of bodies
Engulfed desire in sunset hues

I journey now with downcast eyes
As if to find in the grains of sand
That beneath the hooves of camel, scatters,
Some refraction of light that I might see
Your eyes or face to know again
Soft morning sighs

Such these days begin and end
In thoughts of writing to you
In dreams of jasmine and wine
Or with silent gaze
Toward the clouds
       No longer there

It is now the season of rain
And you flood me

Still

Ron...  This is awesome.  Your sensitivity to detail and description is indeed benchmark.  Really.  If your poetry is this good, I can only imagine reading your short stories or novels.  Have any to share...???

thank you all for the very kind comments on this scribble of mine...

they are greatly appreciated..

Mark... I've told a story or two and written one or two along the way, but never tackled the novel nor a short story in the same way I do poems.. or what I call poems.... I doubt I would have the skill to write anything in prose that would be worth the read.

This is so deep, so beautiful.
it softly reminds me of a song that Toby Keith sings when he says "I'm still standing in yesterday's rain."

Hogwash!  Horsefeathers!  Mollarchy!  Rubbish!  Fiddlesticks!  Nonsense!  Through your commendable humility you fail to give credit where it is due:  to your factual talent in writing and moving people.  If you don't wish to acknowledge it, of course that is your prerogative, but trust us when we tell you in unison, time after time, that your writing is very high caliber and we enjoy being moved by it.  I, for one, would absolutely read your "scribble."  If nothing else, consider it a challenge to your doubt!  Mark my words:  Your writings will be remembered!

I think, satin is working overtime these days...and will do anything he can to bring those who believe closer to his side...even if that means stagnating man with heartbreak so that he misunderstands love, the reason, the purpose, the experience....I dunno, just a thought

A very elegant write.

(chuckling)... Mark you are encouraging Sunshine... please try and refrain from giving validation to her own statements..

Seriously.. thank you both for the vote of confidence and the encouragement. I may perhaps one day attempt a write of such magnitude, but for now, these excursions into words are but an escape of moments from data and logic....

Lee.. I am not sure Satan has anything to do with the story or the feelings, but I can see how one of faith might take it that such was the case. This is just a continuation of or an addition to a series written over time and inspired from the writings or Rumi.
you comment as always.. was appreciated...

It is void,
This season when in remember
I touched your hand
My own find that sunlight
Squeezes between fingers and air
Is cold in my palms
Where once I cupped your chin
And held your flesh

Yanno... *S* Combine my mood and your words... and they'll start issuing flood warnings. *S*

This is wonderful, my friend... I read it last night... liked it staying with me. *S*

Another beauty from this series...

HEY..its my job. ( gators and moths) LOL

Through the water ... through the rain ... to the soul of everything
Wash my heart out on the stones ... and I'm almost gone.
