Busy might take you from my sight for days at a time
and so sadness would come that I did not see you.
But that sadness the one before, in no way equals
this sadness, the one after.

I struggle to disavow the path my feet are forced to travel
and let habit take me this way and that; I do not see you, not
in the trucks passing, not in the convenience store,
not driving up my drive, not standing in my door.

I know that refusing to focus is only an alternative to confirmation,
but this lack of distinction helps today exchange morning for night;
it helps tomorrow remain in yesterday when not seeing you
hurt like before.

So as the old bearable hurt will pass for today. An intersting approach to the injustices of the heart.

No... there's no comparison at all... and that old sadness is one you'd rejoice to embrace now... if only you could.

But if lack of distinction helps through even one moment... go with blur. *S*

How can I call such sadness excellent? How can I not?
