It is different this year
For the hole is hand stitched
With the thread that I lost
Then re-found and re-fit

And the tear covered fingers
Of hand to the face
Are changing the vacancy
To knowledge and grace

Can you see how the empty
Really waits to be filled
And the fabric of time
Is sewn with heart’s skill

And the sweet smell of sunshine
Still hangs on the fence
Within the lost pages
Of life’s circumstance

So don’t worry my darling
Where ever you are
Is a minute just now
And then gone but not far

So the road may seem empty
When the skin feels the cold
But the weight of my heart
Is the blanket you hold

A blessing. This poem a blessing. Glad I slipped back in just in time to see it.

Martie, I feel such warmth with this one.  It was so well said, and you share the very depths of yourself with us.  Thank you.

Tis said emptiness
in definition therein
weighs nothing even
has no mass

But the weigth compressing
you remains measured in tonnage
of time tears laughter
and the also nonexistent space

Better days to thee
in all changes which call
inward and out to thee

How could anyone, not be comforted by
the true warmth, and reassurance,
from a heart that is this loving, and tender?

Especially, a sweet and innocent loved one,
who is very, very, far away...

Dear Martie,
God Bless you, and your dearest Michelle
on this day and night, and always

I know that tonight especially, she feels,
her mommy’s extra soft, blanket of love

And sleeps soundly, extra close,
and in your loving arms

Dang! Tears sure do come to a country boys eyes easy, when they gaze on a poem such as this...Trouble is....I don't know if they are tears of joy or sorrow....some of each I suspect.
Excellent poetry as always, dear friend...enjoyed immensely

this is as endearing as the precious child that inspired it, and as lovely and sincere as the poet who wrote it.

Well I cant say what I might believe ...
but if God made you ... he's in love with me.

(big angel hugs) Oh Martie, as always your poetry makes me feel but this line especially made me cry as you devote your entire heart to your loved ones and the weight of your heart is like the most comfortable sheets in the most friendly bed and breakfast inn! (wipes tears) God Bless You, sweet friend, I send angel comfort hugs your way, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Martie - this is sooooo incredibly wonderful - you touch the deepest part of me here and I see Michelle hold your heart as a blanket as she smiles and says I love you mom - Paul
