Ever Since

Bruce Willis climbed a mountain,
that looked like a snowy steeple
When they asked him what he found,
he said icey dead people

Britney’s boobs are so darn big,
there’s smaller ones in orbit
Janet had a little spill,
but couldn’t quite absorb it

The operating system,
I just bought is obsolete
When starlets get a tushy tuck,
do they pick out there seat?

The world is going much too fast,
we’re losing all control
So many dreams have vanished,
ever since the grassy knoll

The capital of France is F
The UN is undone
Maybe Austin Powers can,
go find that smokin gun?

“I did not have relations”
Oh and, “I am not a crook”
Sound bites of our history,
that we try to overlook

We’re headed for destruction
We’re headed for world peace
Will we ever own our lives,
or will we always lease?

A future without promise,
and a present with a past
Someone please just tell me,
how much longer can we last?

We’re standing on a bridge,
that crosses over troubled waters
What are we supposed to tell,
tomorrow’s sons and daughters?

We tripped a light fantastic?
A generation Me?
We marched for rights and justice,
but we never will be free?

The haves are getting richer,
and the nots are on the street
Let’s build a bigger table,
so that everyone can eat

We had an obligation
This one nation under god
Too bad we chose to hide behind,
some fairy tale facade

We’re standing on a bridge,
that crosses over troubled waters
What are we supposed to tell,
tomorrow’s sons and daughters?

The world is going much too fast,
we’re losing all control
So many dreams have vanished,
ever since that grassy knoll

Yep...it all started with that darn grassy knoll...

lol

Again, I love the way you mix fact with humor...

Well done!!

Richy

"A future without promise,
and a present with a past
Someone please just tell me,
how much longer can we last?"

"Until poets run out of rhyme
until the twelth of never
and that's a long long time"
Johnny Mathis

but that song was talking about love...so, I think we can last as long as love lasts.

Enjoyed your poem, as always!

Yup, we're all going to hell in a handbasket. I used to hear that all the time when I was a youngster. Now I know what it means. Excellent write. Chris

(big angel hugs) Oh Richy, I understand how you feel ever too much, dearest friend, whatever happened to the notions of "All men are created equal" or "In God We Trust" or the Christian notion of forgiveness and "turning the other cheek"? Our government is unfortunately one of the most corrupted governements in our nation's history with pirates who only rule for their own personal gain! (sad sigh) Later this year let's hope we can get a change, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Richy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Susan ~ You know, some people may think that’s a silly way to look at it. But I really believe, we lost so much hope and promise, that day. Which only worsened in the next few years. It’s such a shame, that we’ll never know.  Thanks so much Susan!

Karilea ~ Thank You Karilea, I’ll do my best!

Chris ~ Now this handbasket you speak of Chris... is this like for gathering colored eggs, like from an Easter Bunny perhaps... lol  Thanks Chris! It was nice seeing you again!

Terrina ~ Terrina, how nice to hear from you!  I really liked that poem of yours, about finding your way home, from out in the sea. Thanks so much for stopping by, and for the kind words

Noah ~ Yeah Noah, all we can do is wait and see, what happens in November. And hope that the best interests of the citizens always come first. Good Luck huh?  lol  Thanks Noah, and you take care. You have your heart in the right place.

Martie ~ Wow Martie, thanks! Ol Johnny M, huh? Do you like, “Chances Are” too?   Well then Martie, let’s do our best to not run out of rhyme, or reason... and especially, not love. Yes, then I think, we will have a fighting chance... Martie, did anyone ever tell you, that you’re quite the romantic?  Only every day? That's what I thought!
Thanks Again Martie...

Nancy ~ Nancy, I guess we’ll just say, what’s always been said. We tried our best. In so many ways, we really have. Thank You Nancy!  Always nice to hear from you!

Dixie ~ Thanks Dixie. I hope you meant a pleasant trip? Not like the one, I took to my in-laws last week... lol Take Care Dixie!
