~*Breaking The Chain *~

I cried seeing the picture of my daughter.
Face swollen, tears in her eyes, and looking so scared.
I knew in my heart she needed her Momma,
Just as once I had needed mine, who wasn't there.

She explained, “It’s really is a type of virus
I want to make you aware that we can treat it.
Once it finds a host it will alter it physically
Getting stronger with self-replication
Through one generation to the next.”

Shrugging I said, “So, I am just a victim of a virus?”
I could see her squirming for an answer.
She had kind eyes, but why should she care anyway?

“That depends on you.” she said,
“If you feel like a victim you will be.”
“Or you can be a survivor, that's your choice.
You could save passing on this infection
To your children, and their children."
So do you want to do that?”
she smiled again,
“If not, our work here today is done.”

I looked at her in a stunned surprise,
Thinking the options were mine ~ stay or run.
“What you have is not just your problem,
Each day you will encounter survivors of abuse of some kind,
Who infect society with their cynicism, violence, crime, drug use,
All because of the pent up anger stored inside that they think they hide.
You are not alone, as you may see now,
Everyone then will carry his or her burden.

She held my hand and looked at me with a look of hope.

Through silent tears of shame and guilt, I said softly,
“I don’t want to be a victim of this virus.”
Her smile opened the door to eventual freedom,
As she said the words that would not only break the chain,
But make us all a real family once more.

She simply said, “We start here, now, today with you!”

There is help for those you need and want it everywhere!

Well thank you for having the courtesy to reply, I appreciate it.  It is indeed a delicate subject but one that does exist and can't be swept under a rug anymore.

(tears fall down my cheeks) God Bless You, dearest friend, this is a most wonderful message of hope only the most strongest and compassionate of hearts can write and you have a most loving heart, sweet friend! (wipes tears) This touched me so deeply as you know how I was abused as a little boy from schoolmates and neglect from my father before realizing it and opening his heart to me for forgiveness, and I felt it wouled never end and I almost cost my own life for it, but I turned to Him instead, and now I am happy and that is why I want to help other children in my life too! (wipes tears) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sharon, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

no better cure for a "virus" than "hope"....
without it, we couldnt survive....

so well written and deeply felt
