A Night of Fake Ages and Speech Under The Influence (Of Love?)

Let us dress in silly grown-up clothes,
I'll wear a black penguin tail and you can shimmer in the light.
We'll sway together to the beats we all know
And the hypnotic rhythm forms a path leading to your brown eyes.
Passing those who have been lost for hours now,
We've found a cache of quietness among the boisterous throng;
A place where wisps of words fall to kisses' bow,
And a resurrection of honesty opens a road to forget what's wrong.
This night that we bought lives in fullest life,
So let us allow our lips to meet one more time just to follow another.
We're so well acquainted by this time tonight
And the band still plays on and on, one note tripping over the others.
All those glittering beads and shimmering snacks (appearing as bird's feed)
Find them unheeded by the hands of those in passionate attendance,
I watch those around for seconds really (I've decided I need some air to breathe),
Hands slide up and down arms and legs like a trombone that plays swing dance.
My attention returns to the only speck of purity, you;
You have lit the dark corner in which we hide from the rest.
I'll hold your hand for as long as the night is young and even through,
But it will end the twilight with a sunrise slipping up for the best.
This has been a night of fake ages,
Growing older as we were rushed by the romantic powers,
Loving those veiled and whispered praises
That held the Sun at bay for an illusory six hours.

hmmm, I felt like I was watching an elegant ball, and the happenings between all the children.
its funny how everyone looks so fakely grown up at prom...
its kind of disturbing, really.

I enjoyed this.
