They say that I'm a pretty girl
but its only when I smile
and that barely ever happens

They say that beauty is everything
what if I became anorexic and died
what would the media say then?

They say that I always look so sad
that my brown eyes look downcast
it's so funny that you'd take the time to see

They say that perfection costs more
than anything else does these days
and somehow they want to start with me.

They say that I should just act natural
as they apply the makeup to my cheeks
I look at the camera and wonder why

They say that I can be a star if I tried
and I keep the expression blank on my face
its a question I have to ask myself, do I or don't I?

They say that thin is in
and that I should watch what I eat
if I don't want to get too big

They say that it won't harm my body
if I starve myself just a little more
god they must think I'm stupid.

They say that I'm a pretty girl
and ask to see my smile
but I barely show my teeth

They say that I need to change my attitude
if I want to make it in this business
but truth be told, this isn't me.

They say that I'm too young
that I don't know what I want
but I swear to god I do

For I don't want to be a poster girl
telling kids right from wrong
when I work for people like you.

That was a great great peice. I liked it so much..It described our pop culture amazing.

Sometimes it hurts more for me to smile in front of everyone
