This was written from personal experience

* * *

Like a blanket I will cover you
In the depths of your despair
I can visit you at will
As I trap you in my lair

I am dark and forboding
Not pleasant in the least
Once I have you in my power
You cannot tame this beast

I prey on those most vulnerable
When gloom comes knocking at your door
I come in many shapes and forms
Inside your mind I eagerly explore

'tho I'm there you cannot see me
Your imagination running wild
Sometimes you curl up like a foetus
And you wish you were a child

Most times I can be treated
But I seldom go away
I'm like a virus in your mind
Deep inside is where I lay

* * *

"Love is the lifeline
I cling to when grief
threatens to pull me down
into eternal darkness"

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you

Dear Sue, you have powerfully expressed those moments when we are stuck in the black tunnel of grief and despair.

But as you say too, this dramatic state of mind can be healed by the awareness that Spirit Divine resides within us and His radiance is stronger than anything else.
May the Light always guide us out of the tunnel!

I am sorry to hear that you experience this too. The Path through this valley of tears is sometimes very very difficult, but we are never alone.... we walk together.

Love and hugs. Margherita

Wow, Sue, reading some past work and I found this.  This really touched me. I know this too.  It can read as many things as well as grief, such as depression, despair, loss of hope, etc.  Thank heavens for the roots of love that anchor us, yes?

Thank you all so very much for your comments.  This is something that touches so many peoples lives, mine included, and I felt the need to share my feelings.

Take care.......Sue

Oh Sue, your words mean so much to me right now as I just lost my beloved aunt to cancer.

I know that dark place but I am trying to stay in the light. Auntie would not want me to be distraught and glum.

Thank you, thank you ... hugs, Marti
