A fitful moon tore
through ragged clouds,
stars were shy.

Madness touched him that night.
She, frivolous,
unrepentant.

Their hearts had
beat as one as they
swayed to the tango
but she had danced with another.

Steel lanced  poison.

He held her close
through  the night,
keeping her warm.

Morning came,
she lay cold.
