Not just one
but two and three
count until infinity

these days are the heavy steps

these days are "the way" (I've read)

we swore we'd die together and
many times we nearly did--
and now it is just you and me
tears too hot for us to bleed

snowflakes from our eyes.

"Let's try," she says
most every night
on the telephone
I cry...

Thinking it's unbearable
to sit around that table, and
try to not see mother's eyes;
she counts our heads and will not cry...

missing more than half of us.

that qualifies as dark.

Does she pray, or am I prey?

Serenity... this is amazing. You evoked a feeling that I have not felt for a long time and... dear lord... its just absolutely amazing.
