SILENTLY SCREAMING

I wonder sometimes

I watch as people go by and wonder

Closing my eyes I can almost hear their screams

So silent in the day

                        So silent in the night

Sitting in a chair in an unknown part of town

The hustle and bustle of life rushing past like a locomotive destined for nowhere

Silently sipping my tea

                                     Silently screaming with them

It’s the eyes

               It’s always the eyes

They give everything away

Their hallowed halls echo the screams

Their hallowed halls contain the sorrow

Why else do they cry?

                                        Because they know

   They know what lay within

They know what the soul truly yearns for

            They know what it misses
                                What it needs
                                                 What it loves

The silent screams from within tap at the window
Tap to unhearing ears

Like an old oak at the window of a small child who believes it to be monsters

Monsters coming to take their life

Forever tapping

Forever screaming to the world outside

The high-pitched whine you hear when all is quiet

The faint voice that calls your name when no one is around

The child within

                       The child without

The person you wished you always could be

The person you wished you never became

                                                 Those silent screams

They echo in the night

Like a cats mew in an empty field

Singing to the moon

Interesting formatting of lines. The title is very apt to above lines too. I just wonder, who or what could be "silently screaming" ? Conscience maybe? just guessing. Guess this is what we can say as poetic license.*smile*

Yes it is in the eyes, and the screams are loud.  Wonderfully put poem, says a great deal.

Very nice, indeed!
I wrote a poem long, long ago entitled
Silently Screaming. Ironic the way some minds think!
