As I lay awake in bed
I listen to the sound
Of voices 'neath my window
And footsteps on the ground

I roll onto my side
And reach out for the light
To break the haunting veil
Of this dark and lasting night

I feel the sweat roll off my brow
My eyes adjusting to the feel
Dry, red and sore are they
Assuring me this is real

A sigh passes my lips
My hands take the covers
Tossing them from my form
For fear that I may smother

I kick my feet aside
Resting them on the floor
Breathing hastily
As something pushes through my door

The light is faded
A narrow minded crack
My mind is soiled with chaos
And the calmness that I lack

The door creaks to a close
Steps now echoing wide
My heart beats so quickly
There is nowhere I can hide

A figure tall and black
Nears the edge of my bed
Its spider like hands
Reaching for my head

Screaming for my life
I push and I shove
Only to hear a voice
"What's wrong love?"

Ceasing in my efforts
I look up teary eyed
It was only my dear mother
Come to say goodnight...

omg i love it! great how you start off wit the fear and then switch it so fast...my fav lines are:
