AS YOU LIE DREAMING

Every day I become more like you.
Jaded, insular, withdrawn.
I am learning to push down,
What you keep hidden so well.
I can see you now,
Although soon I am drawn to the land.
The land where you and I can interact.
You are scared,
I am scared,
Of what lies beneath the surface.

And when the smoke clears,
Who can tell who will laugh,
Cry,
Stand and,
Die.

Pretending is out temporary solution.
It’s so good,
It’s almost our reality.

As you lie dreaming,
Of whatever your dreams hold,
I wonder.
I wonder if I die in your dreams,
Or die in your nightmares.

Back to the real world, here I am,
You snore, I smile, I’m hiding now.
And so I wonder, and wonder on,
My own private puzzle,
You’ll never quite be done.

A super good write with a great closer:

"My own private puzzle,
You’ll never quite be done."
