The ice of night
fades with the drench
of first morning light,

Oh, ether and stars which shine,
I beg of thee . . .
as I lie my weary head upon the grass,

wet with dew
once warm
once welcomed
once you

Once upon a time I thought
that the glare of winter
had left me even when Frost himself
pointed a bony finger at me
waggling:

Now is your time, missy

I really thought that once again
I would feel the sun upon my cheeks
brushing them pink.
My held held high,
laughing, as you chased me
through wildflower and wheat.

And the sun did shine,
of course it did.

This time I just held my head.

I'm being honest when I say I loved it. It just made me want to read on, and it was sad and beautiful.

That light within us, does it follow us or we it, or both. I just know one needs and wants the other. It always see's us, because of it within us. But, when we see it and hold it. We realize how nice coming home can really be. Keep paving that road in front of you with light lw, it wants to be with you. It wants to be with all of us. Very nice.

sighing here
your heartbeat is heard, loud and clear
your smile looks good in any color, but upon a pink blush...

LW - I was blown away at your mastery on this one. "ether and stars I beg of thee". Indeed... and then there was the title. That didn't hit me until after I had read it a few times. Here, here! It would seem the light is radiating from within you enough to hold your head infinitely high regardless of the sun or stars! (Now ether - that's another story, eh?) KUDOS!!

I read this once before, but I was kinda scattered and couldn't concentrate.  But this time was a little different, I've found a solution to that problem.  Though you might not like the way I deal with it.  I just say, "No thank you."  The first time the issue rises.  May not be the best way, but for me it rocks, and gives me less to worry about.

This is Very beautiful. I loved it.

What a great line this is:

And the sun did shine,
of course it did.

Can't wait to read more!

Your poem did not seem to come very clear to me.  However, you seem to be conveying a good deal of disappointed nostalgia here.  I liked your wording about the sunlight compared with water at the beginning of the poem.

It seems our life revolves in seasons - some dark, some bright, but through it all, head held high, we survive the frost to find the sun.

Enjoyed this-

This was a good poem Sue...especially the frost part...should it be ''head held high''though...?....

Thank you..

Wow..this was amazing. I really loved it a lot. It just had such a flowing sweetness..if that makes any sense at all.

I think i will save.

I ask why, but in my mind,
